For the past three or four years I have been trying to write a blog entry each week. Sometimes I failed to post it that often but most of the time I succeeded. I have enjoyed the exercise and have had some really nice responses from you who have read it. I have so much appreciated each and everyone of you who took the time to read my ramblings week after week. As I look back I hope that something that I wrote was an encouragement or a challenge to you. Having said all that, this will be my last entry in this format.
Over the past few years God has been doing some wonderful things in the area of small churches. God has brought me in contact with people all across the country who also have a deep passion for the small church. For that reason I am going to expand this blog. I will be asking these people if they will share from their experiences of what God is doing through them so that you will have a broader picture of small-church ministry in Canada.
A few years ago I wondered if anyone other than small-church pastors had any interest in small churches. Often when I spoke with people, I felt like I was talking a different language that they were incapable of understanding. When I would talk about the value of the small church, all that they seemed to think about was how could a small church be turned into a large church.
Exciting things are now happening as denominational leaders, academic personnel, and para-church people are catching a vision for the small church. I believe that the next few years could be the most exciting time for small-churches in Canada that they have experienced in my lifetime and probably for many years before that. I want you to catch some of that passion from people who have caught it themselves.
So beginning September 16th I will be publishing the blog twice monthly with a variety of authors who have one thing in common, a love for the small church. I will still be writing some entries but so will a lot of other people with some important things to say.
